WHERE THE HECK IS COLIMA MEXICO?

There is this place called Colima Mexico.  It is one of the 31 states which, with the Federl District make up the 32 federal entities of Mexico.  Colima is also the name of the city which is the capital of the state of Colima.  The major beach cities of the state are Manzanillo and Tecoman.  Despite being the forth smallest entity of Mexico with the lowest numerical population, the state has one of the highest standards of living and the lowest unemployment.

The state is located in the middle of Mexico's Pacific coast, bordered by the states of Jalisco and Michoacan along the pacific Ocean.

Natural geography divides the state into a northern and southern region;  The north has a cooler climate due to the higher mountains.  The south is hotter and includes the pacific ocean coastline..

Between Manzanillo and Tecoman I found a little city.  Its name is Cuyutlan.  The beach is black/gold sand and is so soft that you could wash yourself with it.  The waves are green and the water is warm.
I could not be that close to the ocean and not go in - regardless of dress or not.

It was the Easter weekend when I had a long talk with myself.  I sold real estate for years and here in Mexico I had been waiting for a Realtor to help me find a place to live, to no avail.  What was I thinking?  If anyone could find a person the house that they wanted it was me, why did I think that a Realtor with less knowledge and experience could do a better job?  So I took out my real estate hat and put it back on and got in my truck.

Colima is the safest state that is in Mexico.  So I went to Colima.  I also took with me a guy from Patzcuaro that spoke Spanish and English, just in case I needed help with translating.  Should be about a four hour drive.  Now those of you who have followed along with our adventures know that a four hour drive for me usually turns into six or eight hours.  But there is a new addition to our travels and it is called the GPS system in the new truck we have.  So no more will my four hour trips take eight hours.

You know that when you plug into the GPS system it gives you the fastest route, but golly it looked really like the GPS system gave me the longest route.  So I programmed a different route in, one that looked shorter.  Yes, you guessed it.  The GPS was right and my shorter route took seven hours.  (I now listen to the GPS).

We left Patzcuaro at 9am and arrived in Matazanillo in time for dinner.  We got a hotel on the beach and went to sleep easily.  The next morning I put on my real estate hat and drove.  Had no idea where I was going.  I saw this little road leading off the main highway and I took it.  It lead into this charming little town and I drove around looking until I found this house that was for sale and it was fantastic.  So I went up to the gate that was opened and walked into this persons yard.  I found the owner and asked him to give me a tour of his house.

Now this man wanted 1,000,000.00 for this place but was willing to come down to 900,000.00 (later I found out that the real estate company that had the listing told him that he should lower the house to 700,000.00).  However, I saw that there was this little house on the property that was off by itself at the side of the main house.  It was small but nice and I worked with him to rent that house from him.  That will be our new home at least until I find a larger and better one.  For 400.00 USD a month I could use this place as a home base to explore.

After I rented this house, I then went to a real estate company and talked with them.  They did show me another house and they also showed me something else.

They are talking to a person who wants to develop this land into homes for sale.  We talked business and for the first time since I quite selling real estate I found I was very interested in selling again.
But that will wait until I get myself relocated and adjusted into the new town.

Then after talking business, and since it was the Easter weekend - I got everyone suits and we hit the beach.

After the beach we drove around some more and I had head about a turtle breading area and we visited there. here is a link about the area. turtles, alligator, swamp land, birds, termite homes.  put your mouse on the line above and it will take you to the site.
 Going into the swamp.

Pelican sitting up on the very top of the tree.

That is a little out door home for the termites.
After looking at bugs and things that are creepy we started home.  This time I used the GPS.  However, along the way I spotted this really old building that after stopping and looking inside you could tell that it was a church.
