Today we had to drive down and get some money from the bank - however it must be a holiday of some sort here cause the banks were closed.
We picked up some pills for Ken and then had some ice cream from the vendors in the plaza. Sat outside and enjoyed the views.
Plaza Vasco de Quiroga or the plaza Grande holds crafts for sale and is filled with stores selling a very wide variety.
Coffee with any flavor you want added
We were getting hungry so we went into eat lunch.
I made a movie of the place that we had lunch at and the link to that movie is http://youtu.be/2vAl_i7s0fk
After lunch I wanted to get some pictures of this place called the 11 patios. The building was done in 1742 and housed the Dominican nuns. Now the nuns rooms (cells I think they are called) are workshops with blankets and a variety of regional crafts. There are some truly master craftsmen items in these shops.
The Casa de los Once Patios (house of eleven courtyards) was constructed in 1742 for the Dominican nuns of the order of Santa Catarina de Sena. Gradually this was expanded by buying adjacent houses which is why the comples once had eleven courtyards. At the present tie there are only five. There is this one tiny room that had a bathtub with hot and cold running water which was very rare at the time. Behind the Casa de los Once Patios is the Pila de San Miguel. According to legend, the devil was bothering the women who were coming to get water. To scare the devil away, Vasco de Quiroga put the image of the Archangel Michael there. Here is a video link of the house of eleven courtyards, http://youtu.be/MZU0MGh_uS0
That was our day in this little section of the world. Ken and I hope that your life is full of adventures that you find interesting. For now we say Hasta la vista.
