POSSIBLE PLACE TO RENT AND WORK?

We drove to San Miguel de Allende to see this house that a woman named Julie is offering.  I am get better at this driving thing in Mexico.  To Ken's surprise I did not get lost once - not one wrong turn.  Remembering the first time that I drove to a place that was a two hour trip and it took me 13 hours, I have improved by a 1,000 percent.

It was such a warm and beautiful drive that we put the top down and even got some pink on our faces to show for it.  We left Patzcuaro and it was warm but still damp feeling.  San Miguel is so dry compared to Patzcuaro.  Patzcuaro has these wonderful trees and has this high mountain feel to it.  San Miguel is dry and more like high desert.

While driving to the house that Julie lives in we ran into some friendly horses along the way.

The area that this rental house and Julie's house is in actually is up the hill and outside of the city.  It is a dry place yet a clean refreshing feeling in the air.  Certainly not tree lined streets of Chapala or Patzcusro but yet it has a clean air feeling?

The movie that I made of the house shows Julies part of the area.  Now she came here 15 years ago and rented this huge place by herself.  Do not know what she had in mind when she first got here but it would make a perfect bed and breakfast, throw in a pool and wow.  The original hacienda is still within the owners hands and they live behind this group of homes.  Typical for the Mexican wealthy families, they build large estates for their family members to live on the same land as they do.  Hence the two multi-unit homes and other houses on the property.

Whatever her intentions were back then, today she rents out the units.  When she rented this it was not much but she put a lot of money into this house and the grounds.  That is not unusual in Mexico.  Many expats that I know rent homes and the rental contract states that the owners will continue to rent to the buyer without raising rent for as long as the buyer wants to stay and if the renter improves the property, those improvements become affixed to the property and belong to the owners and if anything needs maintenance - the renter will completely take care of it.  If the owner wishes to sell then they will give the first offer to buy to the renter.

I made a movie about this place and the link is
