THE LITTLE CAR THAT COULD.

The little red engine that could - can't any more.  Today I crawled under the car front = middle= and back. (I do not know what it is called) but the steel shaft in the back from tire to tire is cracked all the way through.  There is another steel shaft that goes from tire to tire in the front and that is cracked all the way through.  The middle - well I could not see it very well but something was dented upward.

By that description above a person (any person) can tell that I am not really a car type individual.  The garage said that they could weld it and fix it up like new for about $6,000. pesos.  Less than $600.00 USD.  Not a bad price.  The two front tires were almost shredded by the drive from San Miguel to here.  They were new and not they have no value.

Now here is the thing.  I am leaving Patzcuaro in April, going to a different area to get work done on my mouth.  What I need is a pick up truck not a convertible.  So I offered the man the car for $6,000. pesos as is and he could fix it up and sell it easy for $20,000. pesos.          That is a good deal for him and I do not have to sell the car myself.  He was interested but I will have to met with his boss and talk with him tomorrow.  Every man on that lot wanted that car, I could tell, so I think he will go through with the deal.  I purchased the car for $30,000. peso's. (2,400 about USD) But I have driven that car to the dirt and it has more than paid for its price. Put on new tires and had the radiator repaired. So I had a great little old car that - if he accepts my deal - will have cost me $2,400 to use for the past year.  300.00 dollars a month to own the car (with the repairs and tires included) and use it - that is not bad.

Ken has been ill for the past week with something in his tummy.  Since the doctors told me that he would die between 40 and I do not know what 40-45 years of age and that he would die from lung and stomach problems - maybe this is part of disability maybe it was just bad food.  I have an appointment with the lab tomorrow to draw blood and test it.  Kind of quiet around here with him in bed all day. Rather odd actually, I miss him being under foot all day.

I am selling the leather furniture that I bought in the Chapala area for the same price that I paid for it.  Without the car and the furniture it will be a lot less problem moving.  I will purchase a used pick-up truck and we will be fine relocating ourselves.

I do not think that for a single lady who is 67 years of age with a handicapped 40 year old son in a foreign country that I am doing half bad at this adventure.

Tomorrow I see about the car and Ken's blood so for the rest of the evening I will light the fire in the fire place and make hot chocolate.

Adios

and lets not forget Butch
