A BUS TRIP THE GRINGO WAY

Since the car is not in working order I am taking the bus.  Mexico has a very good bus system and it is very reasonable.  However, there is just one little thing that you need to use their system, an understanding of Spanish.

I do not know Spanish but most days I do get along pretty well.  Today was not one of those days.

We got the right bus into Morelia and we did our business there.  Went back to the deport and got a bus home.  Kinda.

Seemed that there are two different bus's that go to Patzcuaro.  One goes to the deport where my car was parked.  The other just skirts the city and goes on to Carpan.  Guess what bus we were on?

I should also mention here that the bus from Patzcuaro leaves once a day and the time that it leaves is 4AM  yap four in the morning.

At four in the morning it is cold and for some reason people in the parts of Mexico that I have been in do not have any heating.  They do not have it in the retail stores, in - well anywhere.  The bus deport was no exception.  Now along with no heating - they leave doors and windows open.

We were freezing our little too too's off waiting for the bus.  I truly thought that the bus would have heat.  NOT  And there are windows in the bus opened!

When I was in Oaxaca, I purchased this very thick wool pull over coat.  Only problem with that coat is that it did not go all the way to the floor.  Once on the bus I pulled that thing down and around as much as possible and curled up in the seat and went to sleep.  Woke up in Morelia.

We were there because I saw this house that looked really promising for us and I want to see it.  The Realtor agreed to pick me up at the bus deport.  Sometimes they show - most of the time they do not.  I was taking quite a chance.

I was very happy to find her in that terminal and we drove to look at some homes.  Boy oh Boy, how people can just build any which they they wish.  Needless to say - the places we saw were just plan not for us.  However, I noticed something - this real estate company was earnestly working and doing what a Realtor should do.  Dang! I may have a winner here.....

We were working with the whole office which consisted of four people.  Using Google Translate I told them what I wanted - then  the boss wanted to drive me somewhere.  We went to this new housing development area and stopped at one house.

The man that lived in the house is a relative of the "boss" but speaks perfect English.  So we used him as an interpreter and the "boss" said to give them a week.  But they can have up until the 15th of January that is when our rent is up.  So hopefully they will come up with something.

The "boss" took us back to the bus deport and we got on the bus to Patzcuaro or so I thought.  There was this one word under the name Patzcuaro and I did not know what it said and when asked the lady selling the tickets did not speak English.  I said to the deport in Patzcuaro she said Si.

We past on the outskirts of Patzcuaro and then drove on to another town.  And another.  We finally ended up in a deport in Carpan.  I found two people who spoke English and got them to help me explain what happened = we got on the wrong bus...we did not have any money to buy another ticket....

Long story short, they gave us a free ride back to Patzcuaro - BUT not to the deport which by the way was where my car was parked.  So we got off the bus on the outskirts of town and found a cap driver that would take us for free to the bus deport.  He drove us there for free.  Nice very nice man.  Got our car and got home at 8PM.

Ken went to bed right away and as I was getting ready for bed I found that on one of the buses there was a critter that really bit the heck out of both arms.  I have at least 12 bits.  Their big bits.  Oh well.

If you ever want to come to Mexico - learn the language cause if you do not - you too can spend your days on a bus to different towns that you did not plan to see.  But hay - where would the adventure be if you always went where you intended to go?

Till tomorrow or the next tomorrow
